Sedation dentistry is a great way to relax and feel at ease during your dental procedures. It can be used for people of all ages, and is a great option for those who are anxious about going to the dentist. In this blog post, we will discuss what sedation dentistry is, and how it can help you get the dental care you need without feeling anxious or uncomfortable.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry can help patients relax during their dental procedures by using medication. It can be used for people of all ages, and is a great option for those who are anxious about going to the dentist. There are multiple types of sedation dentistry which can be given through an IV, oral sedation like a pill, or inhaled gas also known as laughing gas or happy gas. The type of sedation you receive will depend on the procedure you are having done, as well as your level of anxiety.

Why Use Happy Gas (Nitrous Oxide) as a form of sedation?

Happy gas, also known as nitrous oxide or laughing gas, is a mild level of conscious sedation which is a safe and effective way to help you relax during your dental procedures. It is one of the most popular forms of sedation dentistry, and is often used for people who are anxious about having dental treatment. Happy gas is general anesthesia which is inhaled through a mask, and helps reduce dental anxiety during your procedure.

What Is The Process for Happy Gas Sedation Dentistry?

The process for happy gas sedation dentistry is simple and easy. Once you are in the dental chair, you will be given a mask to breathe in the nitrous oxide. You will start to feel relaxed and at ease almost immediately. The dentist will then proceed with your dental procedure, and you will be able to feel comfortable. Once the procedure is completed, the nitrous oxide will be turned off.

How long does the effect of Happy Gas last?

The effects of happy gas typically last for a few minutes after the procedure is completed. You may feel lightheaded or dizzy, but this will quickly wear off. Once the effects of the happy gas have worn off, you will be able to drive yourself home after the procedure and complete other normal activities.

Will I feel any pain in sedation dentistry?

No, you will not feel any pain during your procedure. The medication used in sedation dentistry helps to relax your muscles and reduce your gag reflex. This means that you will not feel any pain during your procedure, and you will be able to remain relaxed and at ease helping to reduce your dental anxiety.

I'm not a great dental patient but I got the poor teeth in my family so I spend quite a bit of time in the dentist chair. I have gone to Nicole for over 10 years now and we have built a strong relationship where she knows me, what makes me nervous, and how to help me stay calm. This has built a really strong foundation of trust in Nicole and her team for my whole family.

Love this place!?! Best service from a dentist I’ve had in years the girls fixed my teeth up nicely. non judgemental positive environment also really went through with me and showed me the damage I had done and the next and best steps to keep my smile bright and beautiful and healthy. Was always abit scared of getting myself to the dentist would 100% go back here though.

Dr Yuen is a lifesaver. I had been getting migraines and to think it came from my tooth. She provided emergency treatment and scheduled me back to ensure that it did not happen again. She and her team provide holistic care for myself and my family. My toddler was booked in and they were amazing! He was not scared at all and had so much fun in the dentist chair! Thank you Yeronga Park!

Dr Nicole is amazing. She is very gentle and spends the time to explain things throughly so I can understand everything that is going on during my appointment. She is calm and makes me feel at ease for being at the dentist. The practice staff are so lovely which makes such a difference to have such friendly receptionists and dental assistants. Overall a really great experience :-)
