What is happy gas?
- For many anxious patients, getting comfortable in the dental chair is not possible
- By wearing a very comfortable nosepiece mask, patients safely inhale a mixture of nitrous and oxygen which leads to a relaxed and calm experience at the dentist.
- It is very regulated and safe as patients can easily exhale and inhale air through their mouth for “ordinary air” and within a few breaths, the happy gas would have left the body
- After the procedure, 3 minutes of pure oxygen will flush out the body of the happy gas and within 15 minutes, patients can safely drive home.
- This is the most frequently used and safest sedation method used in dentistry.
