Making your child’s dental visit at Yeronga Dental in Brisbane more comfortable is all about preparation, reassurance, and creating positive experiences. Here are practical tips to help parents and children feel at ease.

🦷 Why Comfort Matters

Children often feel anxious about dental visits, especially if it’s their first time or they’ve had a difficult experience before. At Yeronga Dental in Brisbane, the team focuses on gentle care, clear communication, and a welcoming environment to ensure every child feels safe and supported.

🌟 Tips for Parents

  • Start with positive conversations Talk about the dentist in a friendly way. Avoid words like “pain,” “drill,” or “needle.” Instead, describe the visit as “counting teeth” or “making your smile shiny.”
  • Schedule wisely Book appointments in the morning when children are less tired and more cooperative.
  • Bring comfort items A favorite toy, blanket, or book can help your child feel secure in the dental chair.
  • Model calm behavior Children mirror their parents’ emotions. Stay relaxed and confident to reassure them.
  • Practice at home Role-play a dental visit by counting teeth or brushing together. This helps normalize the experience.

🏥 What to Expect at Yeronga Dental

  • Gentle introductions – The team explains each step in child-friendly language.
  • Parental involvement – Parents can stay close, and younger children may sit on a parent’s lap during the check-up.
  • Preventive focus – Regular cleanings, fluoride treatments, and education help children build lifelong healthy habits.

💡 Long-Term Benefits

By making dental visits comfortable, children learn that oral care is a normal, positive part of life. This reduces anxiety, encourages cooperation, and sets the foundation for strong dental health into adulthood.

Dr Alex is such a good, calm, and reassuring dentist. As an anxious patient, I really appreciated how he took his time explaining my treatment plan and made sure all my questions were answered. His bedside manner is amazing — he checked in on me throughout the appointment, gave me breaks, and made sure I was always okay. The whole team is really lovely as well. I would highly recommend him!

I’ve been coming here for over 4 years now and couldn’t be happier with the care I’ve received. Dr Astin Friskin has been absolutely incredible...professional, gentle, and genuinely caring. She always made me feel comfortable and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made a huge difference. I now see Dr Nicole Yuen, and she has continued that same amazing level of care. She’s also incredibly open to feedback and genuinely wants to get everything right, even going out of her way to fix the smallest admin mishap. That level of care and accountability really stands out. Both dentists truly go above and beyond for their patients. What really stands out is how well they get to know you as a person. Even though you might only visit twice a year, they remember the small details about your life, which makes every appointment feel personal and welcoming. The reception team also deserves a special mention. They go out of their way to make every visit feel 5 star. It’s such a nice touch being welcomed by name by each receptionist, even those who weren’t at the desk when you first arrived. Their communication is fantastic, their care is genuine, and the whole experience is always positive. I honestly can’t recommend them highly enough!

Had my first appointment at this clinic today. The end-to-end care was spot on - clear explanations, solid action plan and really great communication. Just got a root canal done and Dr Nicole Y and she completely eased my nerves and concerns. Pain management was exceptional - she checked in the whole way through and made sure I was comfortable at every step. Top-tier patient care from start to finish - even adjusting the air temp to suit my needs. Highly recommend.

Dr Yuen is a lifesaver. I had been getting migraines and to think it came from my tooth. She provided emergency treatment and scheduled me back to ensure that it did not happen again. She and her team provide holistic care for myself and my family. My toddler was booked in and they were amazing! He was not scared at all and had so much fun in the dentist chair! Thank you Yeronga Park!
